Dreams and Dreaming
Our personal dreamscapes can be lively worlds where symbolism, meaning, insight and unconscious motivations are projected into surreal narratives and barely recognisable realities.
We can think of dreams as having two or three ‘purposes’.
Firstly when you are asleep we can imagine the unconscious mind engaging in a kind of ‘house clearing’ when all of the experiences of the day are sorted, filed a way or discarded.
Secondly we can think of dreams as being the results of your unconscious mind working on some of those things that are challenges, issues, blocks and concerns. In a way your unconscious mind is communicating what it has been incubating, creating, debating and relating to.
Finally, and this is perhaps the most controversial of ideas, there may well be incidences of your dreams having some kind of ‘prophetic’ quality. In many ways what we consider to be prophetic dreams are those dreams where the imagery was so intense and possibly non-specific that it can be easily linked to future events as and when they occur. There are a few reported cases where the details of so called prophetic dreams have been so directly and obviously related to a single, specific, event all of which need further research or exploration.
If we consider your dreams to be the product of your unconscious mind then exploring how they relate to you in the ‘here and now’ needs to be the focus of dream work.
Whilst ‘dream symbolism’ can be seen to connect to some kind of ‘collective unconscious’, it is the personal meanings and interpretations of these symbols which proves to be the most powerful in terms of self discovery.
Dream Works is an approach which allows you to:-
1) Discover the personal meaning and relevance of your dreams
2) Improve your recollection of dreams
3) Provide a method for ‘dream re-entry’ and ‘dream incubation’
4) Use your dreamscapes creatively
5) Explore the concept of Lucid Dreaming
Dreams and Dreaming have long been used in psychotherapy with Freud and Jung leading the way in this regard. However the traditional, shamanic and magical relevance of dreams should not be underestimated.

Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Cheers
